Where are your servers?
For our hosted service, the servers used to connect Beam clients are located in a datacenter facility. For the majority of cases, the connection from a pilot to Beam during a call is direct, and usually does not go through our servers. If the pilot cannot make a direct connection to the Beam, the call will be relayed through Suitable’s servers. Calls are encrypted and cannot be seen or heard by anyone, including people at Suitable Technologies.
How do I update my software to the latest version?
There are several ways to update your software to the latest version:
-
When a new version of the software is available, a notification will appear on the bottom right corner of the program window asking if you’d like to update. Click on the “update button”.
-
Go to Help>About and select the “check for updates” button.
-
Visit the installers page and download the most recent version.
You can find what version of the software you are running by looking under the Beam logo located in the top left corner of the program window.
Will the Beam client work inside a virtual machine (VM)?
It may. We haven’t tested it extensively. In general, the client software should work inside a VM, as long as the VM provides full hardware support, and has sufficient processing power and performance.
